hi i sent a heap of pics from the recent Wintersun and La Patinage Artisque comps held in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane but i see none were used and there was no mention of Qld skaters everything was about nsw and vic skaters...also info on adult solo ice dance which will be a demo event in next years nationals, my coach Joan Coates has worked tirelessly to get this included in state and national competitions since about 2002 as she, I and other people up here cannot get male partners to dance with, so it will be a demo event in next years nationals as is freeskate this year. I would be good to let adults know about solo... as no one bothered to come up here to do it this year...Deborah

Hi Deborah,Thanks so much for your feedback! I still making my way through the photos, adding them to the site. I have the ones you sent through, and can assure you they will be added! The goal with the site is to constantly add new news, photos, articles, results etc... so it will never be 'complete' as such :)
We will rely on the input of everyone from within the Adult Skating Community to help pass on information that they want to see displayed on the site. So far I have pulled information from the ANZAS newsletter (if there was news on QLD in there it would have been added along with the rest), but we need people to send us info for it to be included!
So please send through any info you have on adult solo ice dance and the work that has been done to include it in state and national competitions (this is great news!) so I can add it to the site. It is exactly the reason the site was created, to give exposure to every aspect of Adult Skating in Australia & New Zealand.

Hi DebMany thanks for your comments. We currently do not have a correspondent in QLD for both the website and ANZAS. I would be happy for you to take on this volunteer role if you like. I am after correspondents from every State and Territory in Australia and also any one from the North and South Islands of New Zealand. If you would like some info on what is happenning in QLD to be on the site, please send it through to me or to Mel and we will gladly add it.
As Mel explained, this is a work in progress. The amount of work that has gone into the website is huge and it continues. The photo's you sent down will be posted shortly. They are fabtastic photo's I might add and I am pleased to have them for the site.
We are here to promote and support Adult Skating in Australia and New Zealand and there has been no intentional omission of any State. I apologies if you feel this way. Lets work together to Community Build.
Looking forward to the first instalment of QLD news

What is the scope and sequence of your test structure in Aus/NZ? What are the levels and how do they compare to those of US figure skating or the EU countries?Very nice site!

Hi Leslie. Thanks for visiting our site x.
I can only answer for Australia in regard to testing streams. We have 1 testing stream only. This is for all skaters to access, from beginer children and adults to Senior level skaters.
Testing is conducted by the various State Associations on behalf of the National Body ISA.
The tests are spelt out in Section 4 of the ISA Rule book. This can be accessed on ISA website www.isa.org.au and under the Technical tab on the left hand side of the screen.
There are differing opinions regarding a separate stream of testing for Adults. Some are all for it, others think that we should stick with the mainstrean system, while a large number of adults feel we do not have to test, rather we should set personal goals for ourselves. It is really a matter of choice.
Adult skating in Australia is growing in popularity and the community is coming together to form a cohesive force in this sport. Our National Body have included Adults for the first time this year in the National Competition as a demonstration event. This kind of support can only help to strengthen Adult Skating and the relationship we have with both our State bodies and our National body.
Looking forward to seeing you in Oberstdorf next year.
XOXO

finally i have found a website for adult skating down under!iam leaving the uk in the new year to relocate with my family heading to brisbane and so impressed that they have 2 rinks!!!
i live in newcastle, england and the only rink is a falling down/bumpy/sloping one at whitley bay so iam really looking forward to sampling your ice and getting involved in the adult skating scene.
i have contacted boondall already as i suspect this will be my rink as aiming to live in the north as my job is north brisbane, ?anyone skate there?
i compete locally at my rink and nationally in the British Adult Champs and am off to france next month to compete in the dune of flanders adult competition. i know some australian skaters come to europe but not seen anyone from here at this one yet.
look forward to meeting you all and hopefully aim to compete next year in australia ( think i can if member of club/isa etc)

Heard that you may be hosting an International Invitational in a year Down Under and that North Americans will be welcome. Can't wait to read the competition details on this website:)
